Beyond the Kitchen

Life Lately:

On Tuesday I headed to NYC for some super fun Lexi’s Clean Kitchen Cookbook meetings! I arrived at my hotel, Yotel, and you won’t believe this… realized I left my cellphone in the CAB! After a hectic 45 minutes of using Find My iPhone and getting in touch with my sweetheart of a cab driver, I had my phone back. I now realize my insane attachment to that thing…

I was starving, so I headed to the hotel lounge area, and grabbed a snack and a much needed cocktail! They gave me cucumbers with my eggplant dip instead of pita, and it was delicious. Yotel NYC

The hotel was trendy and quite futuristic, and my room at Yotel was awesome! I had a King Suite and the balcony had an eating area and a HOT TUB. Yes, a hot tub on a New York City hotel room balcony! It was pretty spectacular. Yotel’s mission is to bring affordable hotels that are trendy, fun, and have amenities, while also being a no-frills hotel. They work to cut costs (like no room service) while still having a nice experience. I had a great 2 days there!

I also got to spend time with my mom for her birthday!

The next two days were packed with awesome meetings where I talked about healthy living and of course, the Lexi’s Clean Kitchen cookbook, which will be in stores nationwide on TUESDAY. I tried out Glamsquad for the first time, a service that comes to wherever you are and does your hair, make-up, or even nails, and I loved it! If you’re in NYC, LA, or Miami you can get $25 off with your first booking through here.

If you followed along on social media, you got some peeks into the amazing offices at some of these places. I swoon over the meditation room at Mind Body Green, the cafeteria at Buzzfeed, and the view at Self Magazine.

Afterwards, we stopped at the 9/11 memorial because I actually hadn’t been there yet. Growing up 40 minutes outside of New York City, many of my friends had parents who worked in the twin towers, many who lost family members and friends, and like many of you, it so deeply effected my life and all those close to me very personally. The memorial was so intense and moving. It was truly so well done and we just stood there for a while in silence and took it all in. Never ever forget.
