Apple Cider Sangria

This Apple Cider Sangria has everything you love about fall: it’s spiced just right, is so comforting and has all that classic apple flavor! It’s also super easy to make and a great cocktail to serve at a party without having to individually make drinks for each guest. Make this sangria using white wine flavored with fall fruit ahead of time and check one thing off your to-do list. It’s refreshing, festive and so delicious. Want to make it even more special? Garnish the rim of the glasses with this paleo caramel! It’ll be worth it!

Pitcher of sangria made from apple ciderIngredients Needed

  • 1 bottle white wine
  • Fresh apple cider
  • Carbonated water
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Gluten-free vodka
  • Apples
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Pomegranate Seeds
  • Orange slices

How do you make Apple Cider Sangria?

We’re not lying when we say sangria is easy to make! All you do is mix together all of the ingredients and then let sit for anywhere from 2 to 24 hours. When you are ready to serve, you can add in the carbonated water. Additionally, you may want to have some fresh fruit on hand to top off the glasses with.

How to Make it a Mocktail

This drink is so festive for all of the fall holidays and gatherings. Make it a cocktail by omitting the white wine and vodka and replacing it with additional half carbonated water and half fresh squeezed orange juice!

How far in advance should sangria be made?

Sangria should be made at least 2 hours before serving, so all the fruit can mix well with the rest of the ingredient and so that it can have time to chill! Sangria gets better and better as it sits, so even 24 hours ahead will be great.

  • Author: Lexi
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 8 1x
  • Category: Drinks
  • Cuisine: Paleo, Gluten-free

  • 2 apples, roughly chopped
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 bottle of your favorite white wine (Pinot Grigio is great here)
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 21/2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger, optional
  • 1 cup carbonated water or club soda

For Garnish:

  • Additional fruit
  • Paleo Caramel, for the rim of the glass, optional

  1. Add all ingredients to a large pitcher, except carbonated water. Let sit
  2. Serve over ice with fresh fruit!

The longer it sits, the better! Make at least two before serving, or up to 24 and let it sit in the fridge.

There are many gluten-free vodkas out there, my two favorite are Ciroc Vodka and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Tequila and rum are generally naturally gluten-free. Read labels and be cautious of added flavors.

  1. Thank you for this recipe….it sounds amazing! and it doesn’t have as many calories and bad things in it as many other drinks out there. Going to buy the stuff tonight to make it for this weekend and for Thanksgiving! Thanks again

  2. I made this for a “friendsgiving” pot luck I hosted so we had something other than just wine and beer. Although I made it for the girls, it ended up being a hit with everyone! I tripled the recipe too! So there was plenty of very tasty drinks that made dinner even more interesting! I definitely recommend.

  3. What a great drink!! Great combo of refreshing and light….. Like a hint of summer, but great seasonal taste and fit for Thanksgiving and the fall. Was so delicious and festive too. Thanks!

  4. Lexi! Your website is amazing. Help me out with something? Do you think the cider would be good with another liquor other than vodka? You mentioned tequila and rum, but I can’t imagine it… especially tequila. Could you double the wine?

    1. Hi Nicole!! Thank you!

No, not tequila! Was just noting that tequilas are generally gluten-free. Light rum is often used in sangria, but I prefer vodka in this one. I think adding more wine would be fine, maybe an additional cup 🙂

  5. I’m sure you are a very lovely lady… you have a beautiful website… but I have to say… I spent a long time making this (I even made homemade apple cider) and used only the best ingredients and it was not very good. Waaay too much vodka. Sorry. I felt it was a waste of time and effort.

  6. You left the wine and cider out of the instructions, but I assume you just add them in at the end. I’m thinking the vodka may be unnecessary since it’s not used in regular sangria.

  7. Hey Lexi, honestly I’m kind of disappointed in the quality of this beverage. Certainly potable, but I don’t know that I would consider it to be palatable.

  8. I made this for a tailgate gathering. I started out serving it chilled, but the weather turned cold. I served it warm and it was a hit!

  9. Lexi this recipe looks amazing we would love to feature it in our Healthier options for thanksgiving blog this year, with your permission of course! We would share your recipe by linking directly to your blog and utilize your photo if you are okay with this!

Looking forward to working with you
