With the help from trusted friends, a borderline insane amount of research, the search for my baby registry must haves is near complete! After she arrives and we’ve used (or not used) many of the items, I will make sure to come back and continuously keep this list updated with our personal favorites, what you need, what you may not need, what we wish we had sooner, and more. Updated, so far, on 7/21/2020, 10/27/20, and 2/9/2021. Baby Skylar arrived 6/12/2020.

This baby registry covers the initial decisions we’ve made so far (pre-baby research), keeping non-toxic and safer, where possible, in the forefront of my mind. I hope it helps you with your registry and that it can be used as a great registry resource for you fellow soon-to-be-mamas!

Remember, you don’t need all of this! You can absolutely go way more minimal (I mean, there’s a lot on here y’all). I’m simply sharing my registry/personal decisions thus far in it’s entirety because I’m a major planner, and as mentioned, I promise I will report back as the months go on and will write when the post was last updated!

P.S. Not everything is on Amazon, but for what is, I do keep my Amazon Storefront updated.

My Baby Registry

Updated, so far, on 7/21/2020, 10/27/20, 2/9/2021.

Helpful Tips for Preparing Your Baby Registry

Breastfeeding pump through your health insurance: If you’re considering breast feeding, many insurances actually cover a pump or partially cover the pump! I’m opting for spending a drop more through insurance and getting the Spectra S1. I was told it’s nice to have one that can be on-the-go that can plug in OR be battery operated. This website is the resource I’m using to grab mine at a fraction of the cost, or ask your OB if they have forms to fill out. Update: Love the Spectra S1 + love also having the Portable 9 Plus. You really just need the S1!

All-in-one registries, with one caveat: I’m using Babylist as a one-stop shop for my registry. It allows you to add things from any store, so you’re not limited or having people go to a bunch of different stores to shop. One tip I received that I want to pass along is to be careful with return issues. Though using Babylist, I did create separate registries and linked them all. Here’s why: If you have a registry somewhere, they are often more lenient with their return policy, and I’ve heard that’s not always the case if it is through a third-party. Example being– you get a gift a few months before baby arrives and it doesn’t work for your family. By the time you have a chance to return it, the return window has expired. Some stores give extra time when you have a registry specifically with them, so it might be wise to make them separate and link them into Babylist. Update: No complaints. Would use again with all the above done.

All babies are different: This is probably the biggest piece of advice I’ve gotten when creating my registry. You can get everything from your trusted friend’s registry, but your baby simply might not go for it. Some moms swear by a certain rocker, some say it was a bust, some say don’t get one they aren’t safe. Some moms say to get the Sock Owlet to relieve anxiety, some say it’ll cause more anxiety. You don’t necessarily need a separate jogger stroller if you don’t live in a city, and depending on the size of your home, you may opt out of a pack-and-play. See where I’m going with this? Ultimately there will be some trial and error involved in the process and thinking about YOUR situation and what will work for you, baby, and your family.

I didn’t include a few things, like our furniture, but can share if y’all want (FYI we got our furniture from Pottery Barn Kids and used their free design service- they came to our home)! If there’s something I didn’t include, it’s likely because im still on the fence about it (like the Snoo Sleeper & a Dock-a-Tot, for example), but rest assured, I will come back and add and also give my honest reviews!

Lastly, you do NOT need all of this. You can go more minimalist and your baby will be perfect. Do what works for you. I will come back and bold items I think are essential.

My Baby Registry

Nursery:

  • Baby Closet Dividers – 18 Wardrobe Organizers/Hangers: How dang cute? My organizing friends at Neat Method are going to be so happy with me. Update: Love these!
  • Casafield 50 Velvet Baby Hangers: When all of your hangers match, you conserve space! Update: Love these!
  • Humidifier: A baby must from veteran parents. Update: Easy to clean, but it has a light on it that I put black-out tape over. That’s the only thing that bothers me!
  • Air Purifier: I’ve wanted this for a while, so it will live in our room while she’s in there with us. Remember: always use a 20% coupon at BB! Update: BIG fan.
  • Baby Monitor: I’ve settled on this Motorola Halo+.  It has an app and a monitor. We will use this more once she’s in her room napping & sleeping. Update: Big fan. I have friends with ones that just have an app and they have to open their phone every time. This has both, but I never use the app.
  • Non-Toxic Crib Mattress: I was deciding between Holy Lamb Organics, Newton Baby, Naturepedic, Ouef, and LifeKind, and ultimately have narrowed it down to Newton Baby or Naturepedic after much research. WHAT WE CHOSE: I went with Newton Baby. Get 20% off with this link – not sponsored, just received a code when I shopped! Update: Very happy with it!!
  • Non-Toxic Bedding: I’ve added a handful of Aden + Anais organic cotton musilin crib sheets to my registry along with some Pottery Barn 100% organic bedding set pieces that are super cute. Since I went with the above mattress, I’ll make sure it’s a breathable cotton muslin sheet, until age 1, that doesn’t hinder airflow (since this was a selling point for me). Update: I use these and now that she’s a little older, I use these too since they’re a little softer and she has sensitive skin.
  • Baskets: For toys & things! Update: Can’t go wrong! Also definitely will want more organized storage solutions as she has more stuff.

*Room details coming soon,

White Noise: (MUST-HAVE)

  • Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine: Will likely use this multi-use (nightlight, sound machine, and time-to-rise alert) once she’s in her room. Update: We use this every night. It’s a must.
  • Hushh Portable White Noise: Added this post-baby: A must for travel, stroller, or downstairs. We used this all the time, but it does need to be charged OFTEN.
  • Baby Shusher For Babies: Update: We loved this, but it does shut off after a number of minutes! Worth having those first few months. We stopped using around month 3.
  • I also got an app on my phone called Guva that you can play (or record) shushes, other songs, noises, etc., and can set a timer! It’s $7.99 to upgrade for all the features. I actually use it all the time.

Sleep & Downtime:

SWADDLES: I was told to try all the sleep swaddles for before she rolls, so I picked the most recommended/rated/favorited to try.

Here’s what we tried:

SLEEP SACKS: Once babe is rolling (for us this was around 4 months), it’s time to transition out of the swaddles and into a wearable blanket. The reason to try a few in the beginning (like the Merlin) is because the transition is often not easy for babies. It wasn’t easy for us!

  • Baby Merlin’s Magic SleepsuitFor when she’s a bit older I heard this was lovely. She was not a fan of this, but so many love it. Worth Keeping on your registry to try.
  • Halo Sleepsack 100% Cotton Swaddle (velcro): We used this when transitioning out of her swaddle. I hated this one honestly.
  • Nested Bean Zen SackWhat she was in at 4 monthsand lovedg! A good transition before the standard sleep sacks since it’s lightly weighted on the chest, but perfectly safe for rolling.
  • Kyte Baby Sleep SackI got this after loving their onesies, and it’s SO soft. We are using the weighted right now, but this will be our go-to for after. Update: Have 2 of these. My favorite.
  • Woolino Sleep Sack: Everyone recommends this. Update: While I like it, I like Kyte better.

Other:

  • Halo Bassinet Swivel Sleeper / Newborn Insert / Waterproof Bassinet Covers / Cambria Bassinet Sheets: For our room. We are going with this bassinet, but I still have my thoughts and questions whirling around regarding the Snoo. This has come highly recommended and great if you don’t need to move it (hearing it’s heavy). Stay tuned. Update: Great bassinet.
  • Loungers: Lots of thoughts on loungers, but it’s a personal choice and anything supervised can be safe. I’m snagging the Snuggle Me Organic Lounger and the Boppy Original Newborn Lounger. We were also gifted a Rahoo Baby Lounger which I really like!
    • UPDATE round 1: We use these daily and we were also gifted a Dock-a-Tot, somehow we use all three. You definitely don’t need both the Dock-a-Tot & Snuggle Me, they’re very similar. So I’d pick one of those. I think it’s worth having a Boppy/Rahoo style and a Snuggle Me/Dock-a-Tot style.
    • UPDATE round 2: Around week 6 she decided napping in the bright living room was no more, so we aren’t using Snuggle Me/Dock-a-Tot  quite as much, and the other two are still being used to hang in.
  • Aden + Anais Dream Blanket: To have around the house or when we’re out, one that’s warm and thick! Update: Great for the stroller and around the house!!
  • Sleep HELP: I was gifted the Taking Cara Babies sleep course and was recommended to read 12 Hours by 12 Weeks. I will report back when I dive in! See this post 🙂

Newborn Feeding & Accessories:

  • My Brest Friend Original Nursing Posture Pillow: I’ve heard this over the Boppy for a nursing pillow. Update: Love this so much I got a second to have!
  • Maternity/Nursing Bras: After trying many bras during my pregnancy, these were recommended (a 3-pack for $25) and they are super comfy. Also loving theseUpdate: Still love.
  • Nipple Creams: Based on recommendations, I’ll try  this one by Earthmama and this one by Motherlove. Update: Love the Motherlove.
  • Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags: I might try silicone molds to avoid plastic at some point, but was told these are the best leak-free storage bags so I’ll be using them to start! Update: These are GREAT.
  • Lansinoh Stay Dry Disposable Nursing Pads: My momma friends said these are a must grab. Update: I haven’t used these yet honestly. I bought SO MANY.
  • Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump & Silicone Cap: I will also be getting one through insurance (see above), but have heard great things about this for catching extra milk, etc. Update: Okay, everyone loves this but Skylar would just knock it off. I LOVE IT if I have a clogged duct though with Epsom salts — but I don’t use it as directed. I know people love it, but it didnt work for me?
  • Munchkin Deluxe Dishwasher Basket: Love the idea of keeping her things separate in the dishwasher. Update: a must!
  • Boon Drying Rack Lawn Countertop / Boon STEM Drying Rack Accessory / OR Space Saving OXO Tot Drying Rack: Have heard nothing but great things! Update: Went with OXO and LOVE.
  • Bottle Brush with Nipple Cleaner: I will let you know if this is really needed, but I can imagine It is! UPDATE: I’ve switched my decision to a fully silicone bottle brush cleaner since it’s easier to clean/can throw in the dishwasher. Going to grab this one instead. Update: Silicone is just okay honestly.
  • Baby Bottles: Whether exclusively breastfeeding, pumping, formula, or a combination (FYI: fed is best, do you), having some bottles on hand is a good idea, and it’s one of those things, like pacifiers, that it’s good to try a few out and see which baby likes. Trying thesethese, and these. Update: Skylar decided she’s team no bottles, haha.
  • FormulaI plan to have formula on hand, though I hope to donate it eventually. In my mind, it’s best to have what you want than scramble if you need it. Update: Haven’t used.
  • Organic Burp Cloths: I was told to stock up on these, which makes plenty of sense. I grabbed these and these. Both seem great so far.  Update: The more the better!
  • Aden + Anais Classic Snap Bibs: I heard these are wonderful as well as these. Update: NOPE. No need for more laundry, go for these bibs: OXO & MUSHIE.
  • 3 in 1 Multi Seat: I’ve heard people can’t live without, and some say they didn’t use it much. I can see it very helpful, so we’re trying it! Update: Used when traveled because attaches to any chair. Worth having.
  • Stokke High Chair: I personally did not add this to my registry as we have a little time, but this is the one I’m eyeing for when we need a high chair. I have friends who have gotten more simple ones, and what they say is they like that this has a foot rest. So regardless where you net out with a high chair, think foot rest! Note: I also didn’t include feeding stuff for once baby starts eating solids, but I will add what we decide. Update: I love it. It’s definitely not one that rolls around the house so it’s better for one that’s staying in one area, if that makes sense!

You’ll notice a handful of different pacifiers on here. Every baby is different so one great suggestion I got was to not open a million different ones and clean them all just yet, because your baby not like them! Hey, your baby (or you) might decide on no pacifiers! Another game of trial and error and to each their own. Luckily they’re fairly inexpensive.

  1. Update 1: So far she isn’t pacifier obsessed, but these are the verdicts after 5+ weeks.
  2. Update 2: 8 months, still no paci. Leaving those comments below as I still think worth getting 1 of each and not 5 like I did.
  • MAM Pacifiers: Update: Her favorite, though she’s not a pacifier girl. *The lactation specialist said these are less ideal because they are flatter. We still like them!
  • BIBS Baby PacifierUpdate: Her other favorite, if she really had one.
  • WubbaNub Pacifier: Update: Less into these.
  • Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier: Update: Less into these.
  • Pacifier Clips: I love the Ryan & Rose story and just everything about them! These are great too. Update: Definitely snag a few of these if you end up having a paci-loving babe!

Carriers:

Another one that is truly trial and error! For baby of course, but especially for petite ladies like me. I’m going to try out a few carriers and wraps, and report back on which work best for me (petite mom-to-be) and for Mike should he use it.

Tip: If you know before you’re showing, go try them on just to see what fits your body. I didn’t do this and I wish I did! Of course, it’s hard to say what baby will like, but good to know what is comfortable for you going in, too!

  • Solly Baby Wrap: I hear nothing but wonderful things. Update: Loved when she was little.
  • Ergobaby Carrier Omni 360: I’ve heard Mike will love this! Update 1: We haven’t used yet, but seems more complicated than the Baby Bjorn. Update 2: Great for as she’s older.
  • Baby Bjorn CarrierWas lent this and find it easier to use than the Ergo. Update: This or Ergo – similar. Don’t need both.
  • Boppy Baby Wrap/Carrier: A mix of the above! Update: Haven’t used yet. Mike tried it and liked it.
  • Baby Tula Explore Baby Carrier: Similar to Ergo. I like the support I think this one offers. Update: I never got this one but wish I did for older baby. I think it has better back support.

If/as we add other carriers into the mix, I will make sure to update! Update: Get a Solly for sure, and maybe one or two of the others. I’d go Baby Bjorn or Ergo as of now. I didn’t get the Tula but I heard it’s a better-back-support option than Ergo/Bjorn.

Bathtime:

  • Boon Soak 3-Stage Bathtub: I like that this grows as she grows and the plastic has no BPA etc., which isn’t clear with others. Update: We haven’t used any other tub and there are definitely other great ones I’ve heard of, but she really likes this one and it’s sleek!
  • Water Thermometer: My friend Cassy said she thought this was silly but uses it all the time. When I showed it to Mike, he was excited because he often takes too hot of baths himself and feels funny, haha. Update: Happy we had this as new parents but honestly not needed.
  • Washcloths, 100% Organic Cotton / Bamboo Organics Baby Washcloths: Can’t have enough I’ve been told! Update: The more the better!! Seriously. Love the Burt’s Bees the most. I recommended getting a ton!
  • Baby Bath Set: Spout Cover, Bath Kneeler, Elbow Pad, and Waterfall: Cute and functional AKA protects your knees/elbows when you’re bathing baby. Update: LOVE THIS SET. Highly recommend.
  • Organic Bamboo Baby Hooded Towel: I’m registering for 2-3 hooden towels. They are also so dang cute. Update: So soft and adorable. Highly recommend registering for more than 1! She peed in this getting out of the tub on bath number one.
  • Baby Hair Brush and Comb Set for Newborn: I heard this is a wonderful set. Update: Happy with it. Some of the soft bristles for cradle cap have come out, but nothing to complain about. We use this daily.
  • Bath ToysI like these because they’re Phthalate-free, BPA-free, and ead-free. Update: Starting to be interested in them. Super cute.

Diapering:

  • Keekaroo Peanut Changer: I heard this is wonderful since you don’t have to change sheets over and over. The one thing I did hear is that it can get cold and some babies don’t love that. You know I’ll let you know! Update: OBSESSED. I can’t imagine having one with sheets. Worth the money.
  • Baby Bum Brush: Diaper rash cream applicator. Seems silly but I heard they are wonderful to have on hand. Update: Haven’t used yet. I honestly don’t mind using my finger but think I will use it when she’s older/more wiggly during changes.
  • Ubbi Steel Odor Locking Diaper Pail: Some say needed, some say not, I’m going for it. Update: VERY happy. We got a second for downstairs!
  • Ubbi Disposable Diaper Pail Plastic Bags: Apparently you can use regular kitchen trash bags. Update: I personally like having these. I bought a set and at 8 months I still have some left.
  • Honest Wipes: These are the ones I’m trying to start! I’ve heard these are good too. Update: Happy with them!
  • Honest Diapers: Personally am starting with these! Others I’ve seen people like are Earth’s Best & Eco by Naty. Asking for a few packages of newborn, 1, and 2 to start us off. I will not be cloth diapering because I hate laundry. Know yourself and do what works for you and your family! Update: Very happy with these. Make sure to pull out the inner flap (reader tip)! I’m currently doing the subscription on their website (cheaper option). Hope this helps you navigate how much to order initially: Every baby is different but for Skylar, at 5 1/2 weeks (roughly 9.5 pounds) she was basically done with the newborn size, and into size 1. We needed size 2 at around 13 weeks (roughly 12.8 pounds). At 8 months we’re in size 3.

Travel/On-the-Go:

  • Diaper Bag: I’m going for this one after hearing great things! So this comes with a changing mat, but you may want the above to leave in your partners car. Update: I LOVE THIS DIAPER BAG.
  • Bag Organizer: Newly added. I love my diaper bag so much (above). I saw this organizer on my cousin’s registry and fell in love and ordered one for myself! Love having this for my other bags, or for Mike should he need it! It has a changing mat too.
  • JJ Cole Outdoor BlanketI have my screened in porch, grass areas, and back deck in mind here. Update: A MUST HAVE. We will use for years. Great for outdoor music class, picnics, etc. Folds up into a bag with a strap.
  • Portable Changing Mat: FEEL like this is necessary for public places but will report back! Update: Haven’t used since my diaper bag (and the organizer) both comes with one. Seems most diaper bags have this so good for partner but otherwise not needed.
  • On-the-go DomeFor beach and things! I heard it’s wonderful. Update: We didn’t end up using this, but think this is great for young babies who will be outdoors a ton.
  • Baby Car Mirror: One for each car. Make sure it’s one that can’t fly off. Update: Happy I have.
  • Ubbi Retractable On The Go Bag Dispenser: Feel like these are good to remember to have for on-the-go! Update: Happy I have. Keep in my diaper bag.
  • Ubbi On The Go Refill Bags: And of course, these go with the above. Update: Happy I have. Keep in my diaper bag.
  • Graco Pack ‘n Play: May seem like a duplicate to the Lotus, but I have a feeling this will stay put downstairs for changing, play, etc., whereas the Lotus will travel to grandparents, on trips, etc. Update: Life saver for downstairs. Easy for travel. Update 2: Buy the mattress for it and organic sheets
  • Slumberpod: A must for traveling with any pack and play.  LEXI20 for $20 off.
  • Aden + Anais Car Seat Canopy: Sun blocker! Though our car seat has one built in. Update: Haven’t used as our car seat has a built-in one. If yours does too, you may not need this.
  • Mini Handheld Stroller Fan: My thought was summer baby, but I will let you know if it’s silly. Update: Happy I had in summer. Not my favorite as it needs to be charged often.
  • Aden + Anais Stroller Blanket: A nice lightweight one to start (again, summer cutie). Update: Happy I have. Use it all the time.
  • Fast Table Chair: For when she’s a bit older (around 6 months) and we’re out and about eating. Dreamy of our family dinner dates already! I know some that have used this instead of their high chair even! Update: I keep it on the island so she can sit with us!!
  • Nuna Pipa Car Seat + extra Base for Mike’s car: I personally think there are a lot of great car seats out there. We did a lot of research here. Aside from the safety standards, it’s VERY light. Hence why we’re going for an infant car seat and not a convertible. I also grabbed. the adapters so if she’s sleeping I can easily clip the carseat onto her stroller. Update: We really love this car seat. I’m glad I went with a lighter version because it’s still not SO light with a baby in it! The adapters are super easy to use for the stroller (below). Overall so far I’m super happy we went with this one. Tip from my trainer: If your car seat is heavy, try holding it closer to your body versus further away when carrying it.
  • Nuna RAVA Convertible Car Seat: I added this to our registry for when she outgrows the Nuna Pipa, though can be used starting at 5 pounds, just doesn’t attach to a stroller (key for sleepy newborns). I ended up ordering it on sale during the Nordstrom sale and removing from my registry!
    • Update: For us, we rarely use Mike’s car, so haven’t gotten much use at all with the extra base so far (2 months in) for the PIPA. I think if I was doing this again, instead of spending $150 on an extra base, I’d put that money towards the convertible car seat now, and use it in the car you use less. That way you have both options, and already have the RAVA for when baby is bigger. Just a thought! If you use both cars often, a second base is really great to have.

Strollers: Strollers are another specific one to your own needs. We decided with the UPPAbaby VISTA for our Stroller after much research. It converts for two kiddos (if needed), and UPPAbaby does not use toxic flame retardants, BPA, Phthalates, Lead, Latex, Teflon, or ScotchGuard in any of their products. Plus they are local to me here in MA which is fun! Update: I LOVE THIS STROLLER.

  • UPPAbaby VISTA V2 Stroller in JORDAN
  • Accessories (if you want to splurge): Nuna Adapter, Stroller Organizer, Cupholder, Stroller Snack Tray, Bassinet Stand, BlanketUpdate: I use all of these accessories.
  • Travel Stroller: Updated to add we purchased a travel stroller that is lighter to have on-the-go. We got this one because it’s the only one on the market with a foldable snack tray! It’s not as comfy as the Vista, but from my knowledge, none of the travel ones really are. Note: There are more compact on the market, but we didn’t feel we needed the smalelst.

*After seeing this, these items were gifted to us by UPPAbaby. All opinions are my own and I was not paid to share this as my stroller, just a generous gift!

Toys & Entertainment:

Floor Items:

Other Toys/Things:

See my Amazon Storefront for toys by age.

Favorite keepsake:

  • Baby Letter Book: My mom got us this and I think it’s such a cute and sweet thing to do with your partner before baby arrives and as she grows

Health/Safety/Baby Skincare:

Put together a safety kit with all the things you’ll need in case!

  • Fridababy Bitty Bundle of Joy Kit: This kit has it all, and Fridababy/Fridamom products have come highly recommended. I was told at least get the nose set and some mom items for post labor. Update: All the Frida stuff is amazing. The snot sucker is a must!
  • Babyganics Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer: For guests, especially in those beginning days. Update: Happy I have these throughout the house.
  • Electric Nail Trimmer: I’ve heard great things about this one! Update: A must.
  • Baby Thermometer: It has good reviews, but I’ll report back on accuracy with electric vs. regular as we purchased both. Update: I like it! I’ll still report back with accuracy.

For cleaning supplies I am using mostly Branch Basics, which I already have used for years in our home. I wrote a post on what to avoid in your cleaning products, why, and all the details here. I’ve used Branch Basics for years now and it’s truly magic. I don’t know how they do it. I’ll report back on blow out onesies and stains (though my girlfriend who I told to try it uses it with her baby says it’s wonderful for stains)! For Branch Basics, you can get 15% off your purchase with code LEXI15. Update: Still loving and using!

I’m personally starting off with a combination of Beautycounter and Primally Pure products for our baby skincare items. I trust their rigorous testing standards and ingredients, and feel good about using these for our baby. I’ll report back on my thoughts. For Primally Pure, you can get 10% off your order with code LEXI.

  • Baby Bar SoapUpdate: I really like the goat milk bar when her skin seems sensitive. I’m switching off between the two.
  • Baby OilUpdate: Love.
  • Baby Balm & Baby Protective Balm: Update: Using both and loving. I switch off.
  • Baby Powder: Update: Great for if you need to remove moisture (think in-between rolls)
  • Diaper Cream: Update 1: A MUST. Heals it so quick. Update 2: Going out of stock. I’ll look for an alternative and report back. Update 3: I love the Hello Bello.
  • Tubby Todd Ointment: Update: Ordered this after hearing great things for Cradle Cap and dry patches and after just a few days, I see a MAJOR difference. Update 2: YEP. Love.
  • For MamaAll pregnancy I’ve used Primally Pure’s Jasmine Oil, Baby Balm, and Body Butter on my belly (and everywhere) and absolutely love! Update: Still using all for me!

Clothing & Accessories:

To get her started in a variety of sizes! We’re personally opting for organic cotton in the beginning when possible. I was also told not to look past newborn size, that many babies are in them for a while. Stay tuned! Note on onesies: There are zipper, magnetic, snap, etc. and just like others, figure out what YOU like! So many don’t get all snaps, for example.

Basics:

Sleepies: Definitely grab a number in different sizes for as they grow out of them!

Hair Accessories:

This list is big, so don’t feel overwhelmed! I did so much research along with consulting mamas and friends, and will make sure to keep this updated (I’ll add dates that it’s updated on), X out things that absolutely didn’t work or I didn’t feel are needed, add things I wished I had sooner, and provide my honest review for all the above once babe is here and settled! Do note this post contains affiliate links (at no additional cost to you) but all links are things truly researched and on my registry.

Hope it helps you!

XO,

Lexi

  1. Just a hint: when packing a diaper bag, include a change of shirt for yourself. More than once I had a baby with some very unfortunate clean-up needs away from home, and, while I could freshen up the baby, I was sometimes wearing residual mess that I would have preferred to have avoided.

  2. Hi Lexi, one item that I used multiple times a day, every single day (for years!) was a soft shawl to wrap around baby and me while breastfeeding. It was one of the most useful items I ever bought! Good luck with your baby journey xxxxx

  3. Loved having a stroller fan! Essential with summer babies! I found that I could clip it to the canopy of the stroller and direct it right on baby. You do you mama! You got this!

  4. First off, congratulations! Such an exciting time!

I have a 10 month old and through trial and error I can say that there are so many things on your list that we have used and absolutely loved! (Keekaroo peanut changer, Inglesina fast chair, Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier and Solly wrap have all been great among other things).

The only thing i’ll add is that we have the Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail and it worked great until our little started solids. Since then, anytime you open the pail to put a diaper in the smell fills the entire room, and it is bad! We change the bag very frequently, but it doesn’t seem to help. It’s just something I wish I had known before buying it!

Also, I agree with the poster above – the Bamboobies nursing pads are amazing and SO soft. Definitely recommend!

  5. Hi Lexi! Congratulations to you! A friend recommended your blog and I’ve been following for recipes for awhile now. I just had my first baby, a little girl, 4 weeks ago. I noticed a lot of great items and things that I have and love on your registry like the frida baby kit (I use the nose frida pretty much everyday!), solly baby wrap and Ubbi diaper pail (we have one for the main level of our house and one for upstairs!).

I noticed that you have the Nuna pipa car seat and car mirrors on your list and although I hate to butt in, I felt strongly about letting you know that I recommend against both for safety reasons. I should mention that I am also a pediatric nurse practitioner, and since early in my career have been following a blog called The Car Seat Lady (thecarseatlady.com). The car seat lady is actually a longtime labor and delivery nurse named Debby Baer. I was able to consult her and learned that she used to have the Nuna seats for her grand children, but in more recent crash testing the brand did not perform well so she has discontinued using them and switched to Clek, which she tells me is the safest seat on the market. I too was looking at the Nuna and loved that it is so light, but based on her advice we ended up with the clek liing and it’s quite light as well. It can also be installed in any car just with the seatbelt, so without the base! This is so great because it means you can travel without the base and you don’t need to spend the money on a base for your husband’s car. With respect to the mirror, I advise against it as well because in the event of a car accident it can detach and become a projectile, and the force and speed with which it travels is extremely dangerous- a tip I also learned from Debby. You can contact her via her website, she is always happy to advise new parents.

I hope this is helpful info, and please feel free to reach out to Debby if you have any questions about the car seat!

  6. Your list is stacked! The keekaroo peanut has been a lifesaver. As a mom of twin boys the blowouts are definitely a real thing and the ease and speed of clean up on the keekaroo is far better than having to throw a changing pad in the wash.

In terms of thermometers I love our Braun ear thermometer but I have noticed the temperature is always a little off. After having both boys in the NICU we learned the 2 best things to have are a suction bulb (for the snot) and a plain old thermometer for under their armpit which is the most accurate way to check the temperature.

We also received the frida cool mist humidifier and how sleek and easy it is to use the cool mist sprays everywhere which can ruin your furniture if you have it on the dresser. We also noticed it’s not big enough to go for as long as we would like. We trialed the Honeywell cool air humidifier and loved it. It’s super easy to clean.

  7. Congrats and thanks so much for the in depth & super helpful post! I’m also a mama to be due this summer and was wondering if during your search you found anything against using the uppa baby bassinet as a sleep solution instead of the halo/snoo options? The vista was our first purchase and I’ve seen so many mixed reviews on using the bassinet as an overnight sleep solution in our room. It’s nice that it was included when we purchased our stroller, but now we’re just trying to figure out if we should also ask for a halo/snoo type bassinet for sleeping (if that means for a safer sleep solution for baby). Appreciate your insights (or any other mama, please chime in!)

  8. Hello! Congrats! I just had a little guy back in January. I read your registry post and you have great things on there. Somethings no one told me…. having a very small dimming light next to bed is necessary. Something to give just enough light that you can see what you’re doing or see the baby but not wake the baby up. I bought a battery operated one.

Also, onesies with handcuffs! My guy basically spent the whole first month in them. The little mittens for their hands are terrible. They fall off nonstop. And, they worried me that he would get them off in his mouth at night.

Also, since you’re a girl in the kitchen like I am…we put his bouncy chair in the kitchen when he was about a week old and it hasn’t moved. It’s so convenient having it there to put him in to make a bottle, make a meal for myself, wash a few dishes while supervising him, etc.

  9. Naked panda designs for baby carrier. Can use much sooner on back and so squishy soft. Molds amazingly to baby.

And bamboobies instead of disposable nursing pads.

If you end up flying a lot get a phil and teds traveler pack n play. It can fit in a checked luggage. It takes up about 25% of the space. Car seats and strollers fly free but not other baby gear.

And clothes sizing is based on average sized babies, so since you are petite plan to be in sizes longer than they say. The length/height on the tags are more accurate.

  10. Cannot say enough good things about the Ollie swaddle! And honest diapers are by far the most absorbent. I wanted to share a tip for those local to MA or have family/friends close by – you can email UppaBaby and purchase from their factory at a discount if you tell them what you’re looking for! A great way to save some money and make sure usable products don’t end up in landfill (open box but unused condition I believe).

  11. Second time mom here! A couple tips:
(1)We LOVE the Merlin suit but you’ll need to buy at least 2 of them because they need to air dry, and that can take 12+ hours.
    (2) I EBF both my kids, but like you I always wanted formula in the house just in case. My tip with that is to reach out to the company that you would want to buy from and ask for samples. That way, if you need it you have it, but you’re not buying more than you need.
Hope this helps and congrats again! ?

  12. Loved the spectra S1, it sounds ridiculous but it’s easy to pack and go, and honestly taking trips to see family out of state I have 100% used it to pump while in the car and on the go!

We loved the inglestina hook on high chair, honestly so much so that we didn’t buy another.

Agree with the person above that you probably want some way to sterilize bottles, pump parts etc. Dr. Browns makes microwave bags that are super easy.

TMI moment but the earth mama perineal spray was a god send after baby.

  13. Hello and congratulations! We have a 2.5 Month old so it’s all pretty new to us as well. After reading your list (which is very comprehensive!) two things I found useful were not on there.

A steriliser for your bottles and dummies (might have missed it) but dishwashers don’t sterilise properly so we use a microwave steriliser before each feed (we express and bottle feed the milk).

The other thing we found useful was a room thermometer (unless you have a reliable thermostat). We live in a warm climate so this was invaluable.
The last thing is a jar of dog Bite size treats so when you feed the baby, you give one to the dog/s to create positive associations between the dogs/Bub and feeding.

Good luck and all the best x

  14. Just had a baby in February. Again not needed but so nice to have Hatch Baby scale/changing pad. The app has the ability to keep track of weight, feedings, sleep, etc. it’s nice to have a scale and changing pad in one to see how much they are eating/gaining.

The Hatch Rest nightlight/sound machine is also a game changer for nighttime feedings and drowning out the noise. I like the Owlet especially when my husbands gone at work and I’m by myself at night. Just gives me peace of mind but that’s just me

  15. Thank you so much!! I’m due in August and have been deep in the research process of making a baby registry. This was so helpful! I just added about 1/2 of your items to my list!
