Everything is better as a donut, right? I recently bought a donut pan and am absolutely loving it. I’ve been making tons of healthy treats and serving them in the form of donuts; which is definitely surprising to my family and friends! These were fabulous. I kept them in the fridge and ate them as a protein snack throughout the week.
Ingredients: (Makes 6: 120 cals each/8g fat/9g carbs/8.5g protein/3g sugar)
- 1/2 cup almond meal
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (I use grass-fed whey)
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 1 tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/2 tsp organic vanilla extract
- Handful of fresh organic blueberries
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350
- Grease donut tin
- In one medium-sized mixing bowl, combine almond meal, protein powder, baking soda, and salt
- In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, banana, coconut oil, honey, almond milk, and vanilla
- Add wet ingredients to dry, mix well
- Fold in blueberries, and mix
- Pour into donut tins and bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

Nice I like that you put the nutrition info. Thanks…..I’ll try these.
Lexi – I just made this recipe but used a bundt pan instead (wanted to taste it first before investing in a donut pan!) & I had only chocolate protein powder & used raspberries instead of blueberries. O.M.G.!!
These are AMAZING!!
Will definitely keep this in my regular meal plan & just might have to look deeper into that donut pan… 🙂
PS – was wondering how big your protein powder scoop is – mine is pretty big & wasn’t sure the amount of powder to use.
What a great idea Michelle!! So happy you liked. Those really are the perfect little snack! Mine is pretty big too. Probably about 4 tbsp.
How long would these last?? I like to meal prep for the week and want to make these for the week!!! 🙂 🙂 I love all your posts 🙂
Just made these today as a pre-workout snack for the rest of the week, amazing! So delicious, perfect balance of sweet and moist. I used Cellucor Whey for an added protein boost, still great!
Made 2 batches and neither turned out. First batch over cooked stuck to pan and were dry. Followed recipe to a tee. Second batch, turned down oven to 325 and only cooked for 10 min. Still stuck to pan , looked better but are still pretty dry. Don’t get what’s going wrong.
Is there anything that you would recommend to substitute for the banana? I’m allergic
I’d try a muffin recipe in the donut pan then. I haven’t tried this with any other ingredients so I can’t say for sure. Perhaps pumpkin puree!
That’s what I was thinking. I’ll let you know how they turn out!
Okay so I love this idea. Is there any way too make them Vegan? I was thinking either add a tad more banana or do a pumpkin variation. (To substitute the egg out)
**I’m making them for my work friends.
How many does this recipe make?
Hi Lexi. I realize this is a super old post and you probably won’t even see it but do you think I could do these in a cake pop maker and make donut holes?
I think so!
