Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts

Cooking the brussels sprouts with bacon and maple syrup is sure to make this side dish a fan favorite for everybody!   • 2 pounds brussels sprouts, halved & damaged outer leaves removed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 strips nitrate-free bacon
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoons pure maple syrup (see note)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss brussels sprouts with 2 tablespoons oil, salt, and pepper on sheet pan. Roast, stirring mid-way, for 20-25 minutes until caramelized and tender.
  3. Meanwhile heat large skill over medium heat and cook bacon.
  4. Remove bacon from the pan and drain on a towel. When cool enough to handle chop, and set aside. Remove excess bacon fat from pan except for 1 tablespoon.
  5. Transfer roasted brussels sprouts to the skillet, add maple syrup, and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Cook over medium-low heat, for 3 minutes,  stirring often.
  7. Sprinkle bacon and garlic over the Brussels and toss to coat. Season to taste and serve immediately.
