Beyond the Kitchen

Life Lately:

I have been traveling SO MUCH lately. I’ve missed you all! So, let’s catch up on recent travels real quick!

A few weeks ago I was in Atlanta visiting friends and attending a Beautycounter event! I met these inspiring ladies that I am so proud to call co-workers and friends!

Then I was in Charleston with Cassy, Vanessa, Juli, and Stacy! Charleston is SERIOUSLY so cute. Here are some Charleston recommendations: Husk, Butcher and Bee, The Obstinate Daughter, Zero George, Fig, The Ordinary, Eli’s Table, 167 Raw, The Grocery, The Darling Oyster Bar, Cru Cafe, Another Broken Egg Cafe, Prohibition for cocktails and live swing music, Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar, Live Jazz at Bar Mash.

Most recently, I was in Ithaca, New York (and I can’t wait to go back) glamping at Firelight Camps celebrating my good friend Gina and all of her hard work on her newest cookbook, Skinnytaste One and Done!

Skinnytaste Ithaca NY

We had the best time, and I left inspired, motivated, and with a full heart from quality time with these amazing, caring, talented, and giving ladies! Check them out, and make sure to follow their blogs, too!

Life Lately:

NY Trip, Summer in Boston, Celebrating Life of a Friend

Life has been a little crazy lately. We traveled to NY to celebrate the engagement of two friends and had a blast. We’ve been enjoying summers in Boston and the fresh, delicious seafood that New England has to offer. I think it’s time I do a post on my favorite spots in Boston! We tried Venezia and it was AMAZING. Awesome food, great service.

We’ve been trying to grieve the sudden loss of a great friend of ours and celebrate his life the best we can. It’s hard to post business-as-usual when something so tragic hits our lives. It’s been a really hard week and we are trying to hold up the best we can. A reminder to love fiercely, and be so so kind- every single day. Tell those important to you that you love them. Life is too short and can be so unfair. I’ve been grateful for your kind words over on my Instagram post last week. Also a reminder that sometimes you see the best of people of social media and think their lives are perfect. Trust me, nobody’s life is perfect. Always a good thing to remember when scrolling through your feeds. As always, thank you for being the absolute best. This community is truly amazing.

Jax turned THREE.

How did this little nugget turn into this big nugget? Man, I love this dog so much. Read more here.

One Year of Marriage!

We celebrated one whole year of being married with a lovely dinner at Capital Grille. I mean, they went above and beyond. Rose petals on the table, champagne to start, a dessert platter. It was so so nice. Now we’re off to Nashville for more celebrations! Thanks to all of your recommendations on Facebook we are jam-packed. Nashville travel guide coming SOON.

Beyond the Kitchen

Life Lately:

Hi everyone! I can’t believe it’s about to be the end of July. Where is the summer going? It’s flying, that’s for sure! This month has been busy, busy, busy. I traveled back and forth to New York for a few weeks to help my mom recover from her knee surgery, and then had a little travel going on!

Norwich Inn Spa

Before my Austin trip this past weekend, I spent a few days at the Norwich Inn Spa for our annual girls trip! It was so much fun and so relaxing. We always do dinner at Mohegan Sun which is super close by, so we spa all day, then do dinner and drinks at night! Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse was seriously amazing!

The workout we did at the spa gym:

Austin, TX

I spent last weekend in Austin with a few of my favorite girlfriends- Cassy, Juli, and Vanessa, and our Siete foods family! We stayed in an amazing AirBnb, ate awesome food, and had countless laughs! You guys, I bought cowboy boots from Allen’s Boots (see below) and am seriously in love. Also, I signed a few copies of my cookbook at the Barnes and Noble on Brodie Lane, so go snag them before they’re gone!

We ate at: Picnik (multiple times), Fresa’s, 24 Diner, Flower Child, Veracruz All Natural, Fortright Cafe, and an amazing cookout at Siete Foods HQ!

We stayed: In an AirBnB, and if you saw our IG stories, our last night we stayed in a hotel like 30 minutes outside of the city thanks to Vaness. It was hysterical.

Workouts: We did a workout made up by coach Ju (Juli) at Siete HQ and did a Crush Fitness class and they were both awesome. I was sufficiently sore! Also, shout out to Outdoor Voices for hooking us up with a pair of workout leggings!

Beyond the Kitchen

Life Lately:

On Tuesday I headed to NYC for some super fun Lexi’s Clean Kitchen Cookbook meetings! I arrived at my hotel, Yotel, and you won’t believe this… realized I left my cellphone in the CAB! After a hectic 45 minutes of using Find My iPhone and getting in touch with my sweetheart of a cab driver, I had my phone back. I now realize my insane attachment to that thing…

I was starving, so I headed to the hotel lounge area, and grabbed a snack and a much needed cocktail! They gave me cucumbers with my eggplant dip instead of pita, and it was delicious. Yotel NYC

The hotel was trendy and quite futuristic, and my room at Yotel was awesome! I had a King Suite and the balcony had an eating area and a HOT TUB. Yes, a hot tub on a New York City hotel room balcony! It was pretty spectacular. Yotel’s mission is to bring affordable hotels that are trendy, fun, and have amenities, while also being a no-frills hotel. They work to cut costs (like no room service) while still having a nice experience. I had a great 2 days there!

I also got to spend time with my mom for her birthday!

moms birthday 2016

The next two days were packed with awesome meetings where I talked about healthy living and of course, the Lexi’s Clean Kitchen cookbook, which will be in stores nationwide on TUESDAY. I tried out Glamsquad for the first time, a service that comes to wherever you are and does your hair, make-up, or even nails, and I loved it! If you’re in NYC, LA, or Miami you can get $25 off with your first booking through here.

Lexi's Clean Kitchen Cookbook

If you followed along on social media, you got some peeks into the amazing offices at some of these places. I swoon over the meditation room at Mind Body Green, the cafeteria at Buzzfeed, and the view at Self Magazine.

Afterwards, we stopped at the 9/11 memorial because I actually hadn’t been there yet. Growing up 40 minutes outside of New York City, many of my friends had parents who worked in the twin towers, many who lost family members and friends, and like many of you, it so deeply effected my life and all those close to me very personally. The memorial was so intense and moving. It was truly so well done and we just stood there for a while in silence and took it all in. Never ever forget.

9/11 MemorialNow I’m home, and getting ready for NEXT WEEK! Are you coming to the first book tour stops? I love seeing these signs all over the stores! I don’t think it will ever get old!Lexi's Clean Kitchen Book Tour

Life Lately:

This month has been busy with weddings, travel, blog work, and getting ready for my book to release! When we were in New York, I got to show my nanny my cookbook for the first time. She was brought to tears over some special touches done just for her. It was such a special moment.

Here’s nanny checking out her Potted Chicken Recipe. You all will love this one!

Lexi's Clean Kitchen Cookbook

We went back to our college town, Amherst MA, for a wedding and visited my friend Brian’s new restaurant called Bread and Butter. It was amazing!

Last weekend I was in Miami celebrating one of my closest friends bachelorette party! We had so much fun and I am so looking forward to their wedding in December. We stayed at the 1 Hotel, ate dinner at Baoli, and had brunch at Beachcraft (attached to the hotel). The hotel was amazing. So ecofriendly with awesome amenities. They even had rxBars and Vermints in the hotel room- two of my favorites!

I got home and started back up with some work out classes this week and I’m feeling really good about them! I got lazy with working out the past few months but I am back! Maybe I’ll share more about this soon.

Next week I’m off to NYC for some cookbook press. I am so excited for all we have planned and all that’s to come! Make sure to follow along on Instagram and Snapchat. You guys, in less than two weeks my first book will be in your kitchens! I cannot even wait for you to cook through it with me!

Beyond the Kitchen

Hi beauties! I’ve been thinking about starting a weekly or monthly blog post called Loving Lately where I share a whole ton of things going on in my life, things I’m loving, things people are loving from LCK, things from around the web, and ALL THAT FUN STUFF. I just want to be able to connect with you more and think this is a great opportunity to do so!

Life Lately:

The past few weeks have been madness. I’ve been traveling lots and doing doing doing Starting with my bachelorette party in Puerto Rico, Mike’s birthday celebrations, to this past weekend being downtown in Boston for a blogger weekend with some fabulous, inspiring ladies. It’s been busy and fun, and I’m grateful.

El San Juan Hotel

We stayed at the El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico. I’d say this hotel is geared towards a friends weekend, rather than a quiet family destination, from my experience. We had the absolute best time. My favorite restaurant we ate at was Santaella in San Juan. I highly recommend it!

Fenway Park with Mastercard
We celebrated Mike’s birthday weekend seeing Cirque de Soleil: Kurios, which was incredible. I can’t believe human bodies can move like that. They work HARD and man, are they talented, beautiful, and graceful. We then went to Fenway Park for a Red Sox game (they won) with my friends from MasterCard as part of a #PricelessBoston campaign. Take away: Suite life is really, really nice. It was a really, really great weekend.

Bloggers Do Boston
If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you saw scenes from this past weekend where I spent time in Boston with this amazing group of inspiring women. Some of these ladies I knew going into the weekend, and many I met for the first time. We had the absolute best weekend. We ate, we danced, we laughed, we spa-ed (new word?), and we enjoyed fabulous weather with a great summer weekend in Boston! I simply can’t say enough about these amazing and talented people.

We stayed at the most fabulous hotel in Boston: Lenox Hotel. It’s my absolute favorite.

We ate fabulous food- here’s a quick rundown: Pier 6 (Seafood dinner), The Beehive (Brunch- they have live music), Barcelona (Tapas style and awesome cocktails), Envoy Outlook (Really cool spot, delicious brunch).

We explored: Newbury Street, went to a spin class at Recycle Studio, had a perfect spa afternoon at Balan’s Organic Spa, and went shopping at the insanely awesome Lindt store.

Say hi to these beauties: Andie of, Heidi of, Gina of, Alyssa from, Maria from, Monique from, Sarah from, Liz from, and Julie from

Now I’m back to editing the cookbook, 4th of July weekend, and WEDDING planning. We’re 7 weeks out from the wedding! WHOA. If you have wedding advice for me, I wanna hear it.

In other news, Mike built me garden beds this year and LOOK! A TOMATO has arrived. Well, the start of a tomato. I’m way too excited!

Quote of the Week:

“It is never too late to turn on the light. Your ability to break an unhealthy habit or turn off an old tape doesn’t depend on how long it has been running; a shift in perspective doesn’t depend on how long you’ve held on to the old view.

When you flip the switch in that attic, it doesn’t matter whether its been dark for ten minutes, ten years or ten decades.

The light still illuminates the room and banishes the murkiness, letting you see the things you couldn’t see before.

Its never too late to take a moment to look.” ― Sharon Salzberg, Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation
