The Kombucha Shop: Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I was compensated and received product to try. I would never review, promote, or endorse a product that I fully don’t stand behind, or give an opinion that is not 100% my own.

Ah…. Kombucha. I’ve heard of it, I’ve seen it, I’ve purchased a bottle here or there, but definitely didn’t think I was up for the challenge of making it nor did I really know what it was. Are you in the same boat as me? Let’s start from the beginning…

kombucha

I wasn’t either. Well… I was, but didn’t actually know the details, like how to do it, what it could do for me, or what that scooby thing was. I had heard about it and bought some deliciously expensive Kombucha in the market. I posted some pictures and many of you lovely folks on  instagram told me to make my own. Still, I had no idea what the process would entail, and I guess you could say I was intimidated to try it out. Then, I found The Kombucha Shop.

They told me about their starter set, and ensured I could handle the task! The box came in the mail with complete easy-to-follow directions. I mean, every question I had was laid out there for me. It was a breeze! I shared the progress over on my Instagram:

The Kombucha Shop

Kombucha1

Kombucha is a fermented (and naturally fizzy) tea drink that is packed with antioxidants, probiotics, and beneficial vitamins. It is made up of black tea, water, sugar, and SCOBY- which stands for Symbiotic Colony Of Bacteria and Yeast, a fermenting culture. The health benefits of this drink are pretty amazing.

It sounded pretty awesome, but again, I thought it would be too complicated to deal with. I was totally wrong! With the starter set you can practically make it blind-folded! Are you interested?

  • I absolutely LOVE the ‘buch! Have also been too wary of trying to make it myself, though it would save me TONS of money! If I don’t win, I’m definitely buying one of those starter kits! Hell, even if I end up winning I’m still buying one!!

I’ve made my own Kombucha before and loved it, but sadly my SCOBY died and I haven’t found a new one to replace it. I want to experiment with flavored kombucha!

  • I have only tried store bought kombucha and it was very close to alcohol, at least that is what I thought. I have never tried homemade kombucha and I have only had the one experience, it’s a bit on the expensive side to try it often!

I love kombucha! If I don’t spend too much on groceries when I go to Whole Foods I get one… which doesn’t happen often enough. I would love to make it at home but it seems so intimidating. The set makes it seem a lot more manageable.

  • I have tried Kombucha and love it. I too have been skeptical about how difficult it would be to make, but I would love to try it. You made it seem very easy.

  • I am so excited about this! I spend way too much on bottled kombucha, but I was so worried that I would make an unsafe batch on my own. This seems to be the best of both worlds, and I like the recipes for flavors on the kombucha shop website.

  • I’ve been wanting to try making this on my own for a while now so I would love to win this giveaway. I’ve slowly been getting into fermented foods and drinks more. My most recent experiment was with Kefir and that turned out pretty good.

I have never even tried kombucha, but I’m very eager to give it a whirl! I absolutely love making things at home rather than buying them, so this would be fantastic. Thank you!

  • I made a SCOBY once but gave it away because we were moving and I just didn’t have the time to deal with it. I am now trying to make another one but it doesn’t seem to be doing much of anything and its been sitting for 10 days. No harm in letting it sit there and wait I guess. Problem is I will have to order a SCOBY or Kombucha online because there is none to be found where I live now. The health food store 2 hours away didn’t even know what I was talking about when I asked for it.

Ooh! I love kombucha! I have grown to love it so much over the years and tried many different kinds. Homemade ones are the best, but I’ve never tried making it myself. That would be awesome

  • I absolutely love Kombucha. Our whole family drinks it. I had often wondered about brewing our own but was too scared to take the leap! When I saw The Kombucha Shop’s Kit on Lexi’s Instagram page last week I wondered if I could also do it myself? After much research and reading about the kit on The Kombucha Shop, I took the plunge! I am so excited and can’t wait. I adore Lexi’s Clean Kitchen for all her wonderful posts and love to see her new, exciting recipes! Both The Kombucha Shop& Lexi’s Clean Kitchen are excellent sources for healthy living! Thank you.

  • I’ve tried but not having much luck, it turns to vinegar so quickly. I’m not sure I have my ratios right so I’ll keep trying.

  • Thank you for letting us know this amazing starter kit. I am dying to try homemade Kombucha since it is so expensive in stores… I love the taste and frizziness of the drink, but just cannot afford it as everyday drink. Looks like it is pretty easy with this kit, though.
