I was so excited to get Megan from Detoxinista’s book in the mail. Meg was one of the first bloggers I started following over 2 years ago when I began blogging. She has some serious TALENT! Let it be said that she also has a baby and full-time job- so kudos to Megan!
This book is a phenomenal resource. It’s packed with information and nutrient-dense recipes with gorgeous photos and a simple sleek design. I love flipping through it and finding more new and unique recipes to add to my weekly menu.
I really love that the recipes were developed to have proper digestion in mind. If you know me, you know that I am all about that. Fueling your body and giving it what it needs to have the best digestion, the most energy, and so on. Therefore, I was totally into Everyday Detox‘s tagline- “100 Easy Recipes to Remove Toxins, Promote Gut Heath, and Lose Weight Naturally.”
What else I cannot wait to make:
Raw Lemon Bars
Mexican Butternut Pilaf
Wild Salmon Sliders
Almond Pulp Hummus (umm… what? Y-E-S please)
Creamy Jalapeno Dressing
Maple Pecan Granola
Peppermint Fudge Bars
and MORE! There really are so many amazing recipes in this book. So. Much. Yum.
Megan said I could share with you her Chocolate Pecan Crumble Bars. I mean, how awesome do these look?
Prepare the crust and topping: Place the pecans in a food processor fitted with an “S” blade and process until they are ground into a meal. Add in the dates, coconut oil, and salt and process again until the dough sticks together when pressed between your fingers.
Reserve ı cup of this mixture for the crumble topping and press the rest of the dough evenly into the lined baking dish, then set aside.
Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, whisk together the cacao powder, coconut oil, and syrup until smooth. Pour the chocolate filling over the crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
Sprinkle the remaining ı cup of crumble over the top of the chocolate layer and use your hands to gently press the topping into the chocolate filling. Place in the freezer to set for at least 2 hours and then cut into bars and serve chilled.
Along with all the recipes and information, Everyday Detox also has a pretty awesome seven day meal plan with an easy shopping list! If you haven’t purchased this book yet, I highly recommend it. It is packed with recipes for everyone in your family, plus all of your friends, too!
In a food processor, pulse dates, almonds, protein powder, flax, chai, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon chocolate chips until a ball forms. Should take about 2-3 minutes.
Remove food processor bowl. Mix in the rest of the chocolate chips with a spatula.
Form mixture into equal sized balls and store in the fridge.
Optional: Melt additional 3 tablespoons of chocolate chips until smooth. Drizzle melted chocolate over protein bites.
