I think we can officially agree that it’s smoothie season.
A few weeks back we shared with you my Island Blast Green Smoothie for Healthy Food Friday with American Express. Today, let’s switch gear to a drink turned smoothie. Cherry lemonade… smoothie style!
P.S. If you need a quick reminder on how to build the perfect smoothie, this is for you!
Let’s do this! My secret smoothie weapon? Chia seeds. They add that little extra creamy texture, plus are loaded with health benefits. They are packed with antioxidants, high in omega-3 fatty acids, and are loaded with Vitamin C, Iron, and Potassium.
My day generally goes as follows (in terms of beverages)… water with lemon, coffee, water all throughout the day and evening (an occasional martini or glass of wine), and possibly a second cup of coffee. See, I generally don’t opt for a lemonade, a juice, and definitely no sodas around here. Usually it’s just water. Every so often during a hot summer day I crave a refreshing drink that has a little something sweet.
Making time to relax, read, and focus on my mind and body is something I am focusing on this Summer. Relaxation, sleep, and removing stress is just as big of a part of a healthy lifestyle as is eating clean and working out. So, whip up a batch of this refreshing Strawberry Lemonade with Mint and make some time for YOU today.
3. Pour in blended strawberries, add in mint; muddle/mix until combined
4. Taste and adjust flavoring as needed (i.e. add additional lemon, mint, or honey)
A little vodka would be a great addition to this! My favorite gluten-free vodkas are Tito's and Ciroq.

Honey Vodka Cocktail with Ginger
This simple and refreshing Lemon, Ginger and Honey Vodka Cocktail is simple and delicious. The ginger infused honey really amps up the flavor on this vodka cocktail. You could also use the ginger infused honey for lemonade!
How to Make Ginger Infused Honey:
There are two ways:
You can cook the ginger and honey together over a double boiler for about an hour. Be sure to check the water levels periodically so that the water doesn’t evaporate.
Or you can simple placed the crystallized ginger in the honey for a few days, or indefinitely.
