Easy Vodka Cocktail Recipe

I love fresh cantaloupe. There only one thing that’s better than digging into a big bowl of chopped fresh, juicy melon…and that is this Cantaloupe Ginger Cocktail.

This recipe is made with only the freshest of ingredients. It’s light, refreshing, flavorful, and naturally sweetened with honey. The cantaloupe is cubed, then blended into a puree which adds delicious sweetness and makes the cocktail so creamy.

This drink is perfect for your next summer BBQ!

What Goes Well with Cantaloupe Melon?

Ginger, lime, and mint! Trust me.

The subtly sweet flavor of the cantaloupe is cut through by the tangy lime and the kick of ginger, then rounded out perfectly with the fresh mint leaves.

There is no better flavor combination!

Ingredients Needed

  • Vodka: I use gluten-free vodka, but feel free to use your favorite variety, whatever that may be.
  • Honey: Honey is my preferred sweetener, but you could also use maple syrup, agave nectar, or simple syrup.
  • Cantaloupe Puree: You can make your own cantaloupe puree using a blender or food processor.
  • Ginger: Use freshly grated ginger for the best flavor.
  • Lime Juice: I like to use fresh lime juice, but you can use bottled in a pinch if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Fresh Mint Leaves (optional): These are optional, but highly recommended. The flavor of fresh mint in these refreshing cocktails is so good.
  • Cantaloupe: You can use any extra cantaloupe you have to scoop out balls and use them for garnish.
  • Ice: To chill the drink.

How to Make Cantaloupe Ginger Cocktails

These tasty ginger cocktails take just a few minutes to put together. They’re the perfect refreshing pick-me-up on a hot day.

  • Make the cantaloupe puree: Cut the cantaloupe into chunks and blend either in a food processor or blender until smooth.
  • Combine and shake: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes, then add in the vodka and honey. Stir until the honey is dissolved, then add in the cantaloupe puree, ginger, lime juice, and mint, if using. Muddle the mint gently, add on the lid, then shake to mix.
  • Garnish and serve: Strain the drink into a serving glass, garnish with mint and melon balls, then sip away.

Tips and Notes for Cantaloupe Ginger Cocktails

  • Blend the cantaloupe well. We want it to be nice and smooth for a deliciously creamy drink.
  • Sweeten to taste. Start with less honey and add more as desired.
  • Stir the honey well. It should be mostly dissolved in the vodka by the time you combine it with the other ingredients.
  • No honey? These cocktails are delicious sweetened with maple syrup or agave nectar too. You can also sweeten with sugar, but I recommend making it into a simple syrup first.
  • Double or triple the recipe. This recipe is for a single serving. If you’re serving a crowd, feel free to multiply the ingredients as much as needed!

Can You Buy Canteloupe Puree?

Nope! Just quickly make it! Cut the cantaloupe into chunks and blend in a high-speed blender or food processor for 30 seconds until completely smooth. Depending on the size of your cantaloupe, this will yield about 16 ounces of puree.

Serving Suggestions

I love to serve these refreshing vodka cocktails up at a summer BBQ or as an afternoon pick-me-up with a light snack. Here are a few pairing ideas:

How to Store

I do not recommend storing this cantaloupe ginger cocktail. It is best served immediately!

If you want to get ahead on prep, you can chop/ball the cantaloupe and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
