Turkey Chili

Ahhh… comfort food. This is my go to chili recipe. I think I could make it with my eyes closed at this point! It is always a huge hit and it’s one of my top rated recipes. Perfect for a big party, football Sunday, or for a good weekly meal prep (tons of leftovers). The best part of the chili is you can customize to your liking, some days I’ll add more vegetables based on what’s in season!

  • Turkey Chili
    Serves 12

    1. 2 lb. ground organic turkey (can sub grass-fed beef)
    2. 2 organic peppers (green, red, orange), chopped
    3. 1-2 large onions, diced
    4. 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
    5. 3 garlic cloves, crushed
    6. 2 large organic carrots, chopped
    7. 2 celery stalks, chopped
    8. 1 15oz. can tomato sauce
    9. 1 15oz. can diced tomatoes
    10. 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
    11. 1 28oz. can black beans (can reduce to 15oz. can)
    12. 1 28oz. can kidney beans (can reduce to 15oz. can)
    13. 2-3 cups water, add 2 then 1 or 2 more later as needed
    14. 4+ tbsp chili powder
    15. 1 tbsp paprika, more to taste
    16. 1 tbsp cayenne, more to taste
    17. 1 tbsp cumin
    18. 1 1/2 tsp celery seed
    19. Himalayan salt, to taste
    20. Red pepper flakes, to taste
    1. In a pot, heat oil and garlic
    2. Add in onions, peppers, carrots, and celery, sauté until golden
    3. Add meat until brown, chop up some fine
    4. When browned, add everything else
    5. Bring to boil and then simmer uncovered until sauce is thick of about 3 hours (add water and spices as desired)
    1. Top with scallions and chopped onions
    For Paleo
    1. -Omit beans
    2. -Optional: add in cubed sweet potatoes at step 2
