The Best Chocolate Covered Bananas

If I’m a fan of anything, it’s healthy snacks that taste like dessert. And that’s exactly what these Snickers Style Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas are!  They’re frozen banana “popsicles” coated in creamy peanut butter and peanuts and rich melted chocolate. They’re the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way!

Ingredients Needed:

  • Bananas: Not too ripe, that perfect yellow banana!
  • Peanut Butter: use your favorite creamy peanut butter. See note on subs below.
  • Peanuts: finely crushed peanuts add delicious crunchy texture to the chocolate covered bananas. See note on subs below.
  • Chocolate Chips and Coconut Oil: melted together to form a smooth, rich chocolate coating.
  • Flakey Sea Salt: for good measure!

How to Make Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas

  1. Prep the bananas: Cut each banana in half, then gently pierce each with a popsicle stick in the center to form a popsicle shape.
  2. Add the peanut coating: Gently coat each banana in peanut butter (I use a knife), then dip or roll in crushed peanuts.
  3. Melt chocolate: In the microwave, melt together chocolate chips and coconut until. Stir until smooth, then dip or drizzle the bananas in the chocolate. Top with flakey sea salt if desired.
  4. Freeze: Place the assembled chocolate covered bananas onto a lined baking sheet and freeze until firm.
  5. Serve: I like these best when they sit out of the fridge for 10 minutes or so, so they aren’t rock hard when biting into them!

Are Chocolate Dipped Bananas Healthy?

Totally! Bananas covered in chocolate are the perfect healthy way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Both bananas and peanut butter are great sources of nutrients. The chocolate just makes it more fun, and good dark chocolate even has health benefits!

Can’t Do Peanut Butter?

If you can’t tolerate peanut butter, any creamy nut or seed butter will work great, and any chopped nuts or seeds will be great to replace the peanuts.

Variations

  • Use other toppings. Roll the bananas in sprinkles, shredded coconut, crushed cookies or pretzels, or other types of crushed nuts. Chopped almonds, walnuts, pistachios, you name it.
  • Make banana bites. Swap the popsicle idea out for frozen banana bites. Simply slice the bananas into bite sized pieces, gently stab each with a toothpick, add all the toppings, coat with chocolate, and freeze as instructed.
  • Try another nut butter. Try almond butter, cashew butter, or even sun butter instead.

How Long Do Chocolate Covered Bananas Last?

These chocolate covered bananas will last in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week. They make a great healthy snack to prepare on the weekend and enjoy all week long!

How I Prefer to Eat Them
