Make These Sloppy Joes Paleo

Obviously, Sloppy Joe’s are traditionally served on a roll or some type of bread, typically a hamburger bun. Luckily I have a homemade paleo bread or nut-free bread recipe that makes amazing rolls so you can still use that option if you’re following a Paleo or gluten-free diet. Check out that recipe here.

I love topping these with:

  • Jalapeños
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Roughly chopped lettuce
  • Sliced red onion
  • Chopped tomatoes

But these are truly delicious all on their own as well!

I was dying for these today but since our grocery store runs are pretty few and far between these days, I had to sub the tomato sauce for a 14.5 can of fire roasted tomatoes and then added in a little bit from my small can of tomato paste. Turned out great. Sometimes you just have to have sloppy joes. Especially right now!!! Thank you, always, for your delicious recipes. You’re one of my favs!!!!!

  2. I make a turkey sloppy joe/straw hat filling that is more vegetable than meat and I like to eat it in endive leaves or mini sweet peppers.

Nice – i did half regular mustard /half dijon, and did red wine vinegar which really gave it a nice richness. Served it open face on top of some lo-carb chaffles – wonderful! Thank you!

Made these tonight and absolutely loved them! Literally the easiest recipe I’ve made in a long time. My husband loved them as well. We realized we didn’t have buns, so we improvised with sweet potato buns and everything was fantastic!

  5. I was really anxious to try these – had to wait for my bun rings to come! They came today. Handles melted in the oven. Did you have that problem? Anyway, these are the BEST sloppy joes ever!!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed them!!! Loved the buns too! I’ll be making this again and again!!!!!

  6. Made this last night – IT WAS SO GOOD!!!! I am not a baker and was concerned the bread would not come out right, but they did. I made them in muffin pans and split them open. Served open faced. Glad I doubled the batch of everything.

    1. Jackie (or anyone else who has made them),
What kind of mustard did you use? Yellow, Dijon, dried..?

  7. It’s been far too long since I’ve made sloppy Joes, and these ones look fantastic! My family would be so happy if I made this tonight.

  8. This came out SO good! I LOVE sloppy joes and haven’t had it in a while. I made this for dinner last night, and there were no leftovers. DELICIOUS!
